What's better for a BP: Cypress or Aspen?

I'm hearing all of this ups and downs about both substrates. Now, I know A LOT of you on these forums are experienced keepers of BPs and all sorts of other snakes and reptiles. I use Cypress, and I thought it was awesome in the beginning, but now I'm starting not to like it.. one bit. It ALWAYS dries out (cuz I use heat lamps...X_X) I have to mist it all of the time, I can't ever retain much humidity with it, it even dries out on it's own! So, appearently, I'm not liking it anymore. Plus, there are tons of sharp pieces that can injure my snakes! My female BP has like a layer of some of her scales on her neck (looks like kind like a clear shedding coming off..) coming off and sticking out making her neck feel rough. I KNOW it's the Cypress.... Now Aspen, I do like it, and I do also kinda but not really like Cypress... the problems that I don't like with Aspen is that it smells when you accidentally get water on it, it's very dusty (one time I breathed in wayy to much dust and I was coughing for at least 20 minutes...), and it can mold. What substrate is better for a BP? And even my colubrids? I use Aspen with my boa and colubrids. Would Sani Chips be a better choice? Plus strands of Aspen always get caught in my boa's mouth.. even when she doesn't eat. So.. what would be better to use, and if there is another substrate I should try for all of my snakes please suggest it? I'm starting to like Sani Chips more, I'm hearing a lot of positive comments on it

If you are having trouble with humidity, double milled cypress is the only thing that retains enough moisture to make a difference. That and tubs.

I personally don't like cypress mulch because its too dirty. I don't like cleaning dirt. It seems counter-productive to throw dirt into a clean cage only to clean it out in a month and replace it with more dirt.

I know you were thinking about switching to tubs and I think it might be in your best interests if you do. Having that many snakes in tanks can be a chore when it comes to cleaning and managing your husbandry. Tubs make your life tons easier I assure you.

Over all, I would say the best substrate is paper towels. I always keep coming back to it.
