    A little concerned..

I just transfered my ball python into a 20g from a 10g a week ago. I let him adjust the bigger enclosure and he seemed to enjoy it. Since he's also getting bigger I bought two RBI medium hides, he's used them before last week until sometime last Thursday he's been coiled beside his cool side hide and the back of the tank surrounded by fake plants. You can't even see him and it looks like its nice and dark in there, but hes not inside any of his hides, hes just chilling there behind this tree plus snuggled between the cork board i put as a background in the back tank and his hide. I can't post pictures because my camera doesn't do well in the dark and its 2:14 in the morning.

Here's a cruddy MS Paint illustration of my tank until I can take real ones. I'm sorry If It's confusing..

How big is this ball python, a 20g may be to big at the moment? He might just be checking things out and getting use to his enclosure.

He's around 24 inches which I heard some people say around hear is ok. He isn't crawling around consistently like he's stressed or anything. He eats. The temps are perfect too. I guess he's still checking things out.

Yea sounds like hes just exploring. Maybe he feels the most secure wedged between the cork board and hide. If hes still eating than just keep an eye on him and see if you notice him becoming more active or any other signs of stress.

You could try putting him in the hide. Sometimes they don't really get it and can't find them.

    Re: A little concerned..

If he was using the hides but then stopped, have you checked the temps? or removed the hides and checked for urine. From what I've seen, snakes will lay in their poo but not their pee. If that is all good, try putting his smaller hides back in. If he can't touch the sides of the new ones he may not like them yet...

    Re: A little concerned..

I wouldn't worry, if he is snug and not roaming around then he's content with being where he is. If you start having feeding issues then you can start worrying about possible problems.

Make sure your temps and humidity are still ok in the larger tank, it does become a tad more difficult to maintain things as the size of the enclosure increases.
