Re: Urgent help!!!!!
Hi,
Have you had her all her adult life?
I have read it is not uncommon for them to lay unfertile eggs I think.
Have you got anything you could make an incubation medium out of like coco-fibre or peat?
I'm not sure you need an incubator as they do not need high incubation temps - what are your normal room temps?
Have a search in this forum for the temps recommended - I seem to recall ******** being mentioned somewhere but I am not sure.

Disregard my last post!
I found a post by Emily with the actual temps for incubation;

Even a few degrees will make a huge difference.
Generally speaking, room temperature is fine for incubating cresteds, so you don't need a heated incubator at all. Even if your temps get into the mid to upper 60s during the cooler months the eggs will be fine--they will just take longer to hatch (which is not a bad thing at all).

Re: Urgent help!!!!!
I purchased her from kristy wen she was about 3 months old. so I had her all thru her adult life.
my normal room temps should suffice. I just ran over to homedepot. I got a bag of perlite and spaghnum peat moss...I dunno which one to use so I got both for now.
I'm really excited for this

Re: Urgent help!!!!!
so I've careful inspection of the perlite package...I'm pretty positive it has chemicals in it (miracle grow brand) so I'm not using it. I have a bag of scotts sphagnum peat moss put it in a container with water.ringed it out and marked the top of the eggs and placed them in a air tight container
I have read that females will lay 2 infertile eggs when they reach sexual maturity...boooo..
all that excitement for nothing

Re: Urgent help!!!!!
As long as she has never been with a male (and I mean never--even a few minutes together while you clean or something is enough for them to breed) those are just infertile eggs that they sometimes lay when they become sexually mature. When/if you do get fertile eggs you can incubate in perlite or vermiculite with no additives (Miracle Grow is definitely bad!) or you can get some Hatchrite to use.

Re: Urgent help!!!!!
You can candle them, but you can't always tell anything for sure for the first week or so. Even then, I recommend incubating all eggs just in case. A fertile egg will candle pinkish in hue and you will be able to see a pink circular shape on one side of it--that is the embryo. An infertile egg will candle yellow and will not have an embryo. That said, sometimes fertile eggs look yellowish for the first week or so before the embryo starts to become visible. I have also had eggs that I thought were infertile so didn't keep a close eye on them, but they ended up hatching out perfectly good babies. So, I just incubate everything just in case.
