    Moving

My parents are divorced and I'm still a minor, and my parents want to get me on a "every other week" scheduling thing; ya know, one week at my mom's, next week at my dad's, etc...Anyways, if I were to get PRECISE duplicates of EVERYTHING in my bp's cage and once a week take him on an 8 minute drive to and fro, how stressful would this be? I know the environment change outside of the cage would be difficult, and I would feed him the 2nd/3rd day after switching homes, would this be doable?

    Re: Moving

Maybe you could get TWO snakes? One to keep at your Mom's house and one to keep at your Dad's? You could feed the day you arrive...and then once more the day you leave....which is almost a once-a-week schedule. That way your parents don't have to worry about feeding them if they're at all squeamish or not interested in taking care of a snake. They would need to be willing to provide fresh water while you're away, though, at least every couple of days.

Hahaha, thanks, but my dad kinda hates snakes (how insane is that?), and it's a stretch in itself that he might have to put up with one every other week.

It's not insane. It's very understandable. And an attempt to understand that difference and accept it will go a LONG way toward getting HIM to also understand that you LIKE snakes (which I'm sure he also thinks is "insane") and maybe he'll become more accepting as well.

    Anyhow...enough lecturing!

Ok...if two different snakes are out of the picture...then you have two options. TRY to move the snake each week when you switch homes. If you get a laid-back snake who isn't too easily stressed out, it might not mind. You may never know unless you try. OR...just leave the snake at your Mom's house, if she's a bit more accommodating than your Dad is.

You can try moving the animal with you...but also have a back-up plan if the constant moving makes it quit eating (which is very likely, but not a definite outcome).

Yeah, lol, he doesn't get my love for snakes either, but we respect each other's preferences.

He's (my snake, not dad ) always had a good feeding response with live mice, so all I can do is hope he still eats quickly if I do end up moving.
