    Over feeding?

Hi all, I was just wondering if balls will over eat? Has anyone ever heared about any instances or has anyone owned a snake that over ate?

Yes some are garbage disposals, and will eat every day if you fed them, but doing so will lead to obesity & a shortened life span

Yes they can over eat, like the post above says, it can lead to obesity and shorten the lifespan of the snake. Also,,if over fed, it can lead to the snake going on a "fast" and not eating for weeks or even months on end to let their body catch up with the food intake.

Some snakes will take every food item you offer, others will only go to a limit. When snakes eat too much, they can get overweight and you can see the skin in between the scales.

    Re: Over feeding?

Well, since all snakes grow at different rates, it is hard to say based on age. Go out and get a $20 food scale that has a tare feature. Start weighing your snake. This is a great way to document how fast your snake is growing.

I feed my snakes 10-15% of their body weight every 7 days.

I wouldn't really worry about obesity until your snake is over 3 years old. Snakes put their nutrition into growing larger before then.
