    Losing pigment?

I have a two and a half year old pastel BP. After her last shed, it almost looks like she's losing pigment. She has white splotches here and there near her head. I'm wondering if anyone has ever had this happen before? Maybe too much came off with her shed? Also, she's usually a very good eater, but she hasn't eaten in a month now....since her last shed. She's still very active, even more so than usual which makes me hopeful that it's not something serious and just an odd shed. Any ideas or suggestions?

Do you have any pics of what you're describing?

I had this happen to two of my pastel females when they hit the 1,000 gram range I was pretty freaked out by it but im sure that it is normal as I have heard from others who have seen this.

Did it just go away with the next shed?

No this will be permanent if yours have done what mine have. The shed mine had was perfect. I think this is a form of their blushing as the blushing will improve as well although these white faded spots can be anywhere it seems.

    Re: Losing pigment?

I have a rescue that i just took in that looks almost exactly like that. ours is a little more extreme though. I know that doesn't help any, but i am also curious as to the reason.

    Thanks

    Re: Losing pigment?

Okay on viewing these pictures this does not look like what I was describing. This looks like it could be a skin issue of some sort. How was the last shed? Any stuck scales or lost pigment in the shed? You may want to consult a vet on this. Additionally your snake does not appear to be a pastel. Maybe try taking more photos to solve both of these questions however she look more like a light normal.

    Re: Losing pigment?

    Hey,
Hate to say it, but that doesn't look like a pastel to me. I might be wrong, of course, and for your sake I hope so, but...

In regards to the color change; take a look at this thread.
It's a thread about this which may explain what happened.
    Ball Pythons
    1.0 Normal "Draccy"
    0.2 Normal "Matika", "Lara Croft"
    1.0 Lesser Cinny "Thor"
