cut belly??
I've got a quick question. The 2 snakes I've gotten from Petco are both females (popped) and have this 1 1/2" slice under their bellies at the same area, perfectly centered.
Has anyone heard of breeders marking their snakes like this? Or is it possibly some kind of BP spay/neuter that I haven't heard about??? maybe it really is just rubbing against the bark of the log hides or something...I dunno.
I don't intend on breeding them, but I do want to know what this is all about. It's not threatening to their health either. Freddie's is actually going away with every shed.
well, if you guys happen to know, I'd really appreciate it lol!

Re: cut belly??
That's the snake's belly-button... where they were attached to the yolk sack. Nothing to be concerned about.

Re: cut belly??
Pics would help but it sounds like their belly button where the umbilicle cord was attached.

Don't feel bad - it's freaked out many of us with our first ball pythons!

Bellybuttons is scary things. Tickle it and see if they giggle.

Do all BPs have a visible one? Ours doesn't.

my guess is that it goes away after several sheds. I think by this next upcoming shed or the one after that freddie's should be gone. will probably be 3-4 for Slim

Re: cut belly??
They usually dissappear or fade a lot. My yearlings still have a slight line but you can barely see it.
