Re: Parasites or what are these???
looks like some kind of insect like a small snail or something. I would do some super disinfecting. We have a really bad gnat problem here and they seem to love the high humidity levels in the snake cages ive been going crazy trying to keep gnats oout of the snake room

Re: Parasites or what are these???
Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm glad people seem to be leaning more towards some sort of bug that got in the cage rather than a parasite. I was leaning that way too, since it didn't seem to be in the poo.
I do not think they are maggots. Why would maggots be crawling up the plastic instead of going for the poo? And they just don't quite look like maggots.
Something I should have added in the first post is they don't move. So they are either dead, something that moves slowly & rarely, or some sort of egg case.

Or apparently when the AC is not working and the windows are all open so we've got more bugs of all types in the house than usual.

Re: Parasites or what are these???
I'm pretty sure they are fruit flies, ive seen them before in my cricket box...Fruit Flies do not hang around poo, they are past the larvae stage, and are about to go into cocoon status...Why don't you just put the whole thing in a glass jar, and wait to see what hatches...and let us know the outcome, also a possibility that they are gnats...
Also fruit flies are not caused by insanitary conditions...and gnats show up wherever there is moisture....
