    New rbi rack

Well i just got my rbi rack in yesterday. On the intructions for my thermostat it says put the probe on the heat tape. My problem is i have to run my thermostat at 110 to get my temps up in the tubs. Is this normal, or is there somewhere else i should put the probe to get a more accurate temp between the two.

I have 5 Rbi Racks. I installed my probe about 2 inches away from the heat tape, and taped it down with Aluminum ducting tape. I set my Thermostats at 97, and get good results. your room temps, substrate, etc will all make variances.

    Re: New rbi rack

I place the probe on mine less than 1/2 inch from the flexwatt and set it at about 94 and it works for me. I generally only shoot for high 80's for hot spot so sometimes it's set even lower depending on room temp(back heat).

Put the probe on the flexwatt and run the thermostat and whatever you need to get your desired temps.

I would not recommend placing the probe off the heat tape.

I have tried both and the flexwatt runs much hotter with the probe off the flexwatt. I set my thermostat to 97 and moved the probe an inch away, I used my IR thermometer and my flexwatt was close to 120 degrees. If you set the probe on the flexwatt and set to your desired temp, in your case 110, then thats as hot as it will get.

    Exactly.

Rich (they guy who made your rack) will tell you to ALWAYS put the thermostat probe directly on the flexwatt.
