Thinking about a red tail
Im new to the snake and reptile world. I currently have a BP and now I think im getting addicted to snakes. I want another one. But I've had my eyes on red tails for a bit. Im currently looking on kingsnake.com to find some baby males. Whats a good price I can get a guyana or colombian for? And to anyone has bought from kingsnake, Is it a good palce to buy from?

Yes............boas rule! Kingsnake is a good place to buy, you just have to check out the breeder in question.

Funny you mention this, tonight while walking through the mall I decided to go into the pet store to see if they had any supplies or anything that would be worth looking at. They have two red tailed boas there. The guy was walking around with one, it was pretty cool.
Is keeping a red tail different then keeping-lets say, a ball python?

Extremely different.. I suggest you read up on them a bit. Their later-years will need much more expensive housing and food. They get much bigger and need different temperatures depending on what type of boa your getting.
They also tend to have humidity differences. They are a much more advanced species IMO.

I don't really think it's a good idea to get a BCI until you get used to a ball python more. Having one or two ball pythons for a few months will get you used to the feeding and feel of having snakes, and a BCI is jumping the gun a bit too early.. Are you prepared for the more expensive costs a BCI would require?

I started with 1 BP also now my house is all boas, I can not get enough of them. Just do your research before jumping in to one and if it still sounds good then go for it, just remember they get a bit bigger than a BP but you could pick up a male BCI they stay smaller most of the time.
Price will vary depending on what you want and the breeder, just look around and find what you want. Jimi has some great looking salmons and salmon pastels on his site right now, gorgeous snakes with great color.

I've purchased most of my snakes from kingsnake.com. Get a baby from a reputable breeder, etc.
I'd use a UTH in your enclosure/ no cool drafts!

Boas can make great pets.
I believe they can be more personable and entertaining pets than ball pythons sometimes. I keep both.
On the other hand they can get twice the size of a BP. Which can mean 2-3 times more food and a much larger cage. Minimum full grown cage size for a female = 4'x2' for a Columbian Boa. Do a search on Google for care sheets for boas. There are a lot out there.
Off topic: I personally believe the best pet snake species would be Western Hognose Snakes. They stay small, are not inclined to ever bite and are easy to house and feed. I absolutely love hognose snakes. They are like the drama queens/actors of the reptile world.
