    Hides

My ball python is approximately two and a half months old and is housed in a 20 gallon long Zilla Critter Cage. I have two identical hides. One on the warm side and the other on the cool side. The hides I am using are from Reptile Basics. For whatever reason she has been moving the hides the last couple of days. When I say she is moving the hides I mean she is moving them approximately 5 to 6 inches........completely away from her warm spot. Obviously, the easy solution is to have heavier hides but the ones I have seen at local pet stores are too big. Which hides do you all recommend?

She might be moving it because it's a bit too warm on her warm end. Have you checked the temperature to rule that possibility out?

Her warm side is controlled with a dimmer that I purchased at Lowe's......although a Herpstat ND is in the mail. Her warm side is measured with a temp gun which reads 89 to 91 degrees.

I would just let her do it. She's obviously moving them for a reason, one that may be unknown to us. My girl does it too, the only reason I don't like it is it upsets the symmetry of the setup.

Haha, yeah, if the temp.'s fine I wouldn't worry either. My big girl does the same thing. >.< The little baby, not so much.

    Re: Hides

The only thing that bothers me is when she moves her hide off her warm spot. If she wants to get warm I doubt she will sit out in the open. Silly ball python.
