    spot the difference?

It made me slightly nervous to see the similarities in a pigmy rattlesnake and a corn snake. With no huge rattle, if in the wild, how would one tell the difference? (Not that I plan to play with snakes outside of the 3 I own)

Shape of the head. Rattlesnakes have a "spade" or triangle shaped head , cornsnakes have a sleeker more thin head.

i couldn't ever confuse the two.. i dunno.

The scales give the rattlesnake a different texture as well.

It's pretty cool looking but it doesn't make me think cornsnake
The scales def. help set it apart for me as well, butter.

    Re: spot the difference?

Spend a long time looking at pictures of adult cornsnakes. Try to find one to handle, even. You will start to recognize the shape of the body and the head... They are pretty different than the picture you posted. Once you get used to it you'll have no problem telling them apart.
