Real quick question
I'm iffy about feeding a med. rat to my snake, because it's the second time I have thawed this rat. The first time no one wanted it, so i put it back into the freezer because I hate to throw them away. But now it just kinda looks funny to me and has a weird feel to it after I just now thawed it out.
So, I am wondering if it is safe to feed my snake? Or should I just get rid of it? thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Real quick question
If it looks funny, throw it out. I'd rather pay the couple bucks for a new rat than the vet bills if the snake gets sick from it.
Freezing and refreezing causes the rat to decompose more, and while it does give off more of the "flavor" it can potentially lead to problems. Fresh is best.
How long was it left thawed out the first time?

Re: Real quick question
Well, I put my rats in the fridge the night before I feed, and then the next day I put them in hot water for a half hour or so.
But I think you're right. As much as I don't like to throw out rats, I don't want to risk my snake getting sick. Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Real quick question
Oh, I know the experience all too well. I've had to throw out my fair share of rats unfortunately.

LOL, get a large monitor, and you'll never have to throw out rats again!
Just kidding! But I wouldn't refreeze rodents, they invariably seem to go bad when they are thawed again.
