    shedding question...

    hi,
this is my first snake and first shed of said snake.

atleast i think its shedding. problem is - im confused.

firstly, a couple of weeks ago you could see a slight blue shimmer on his skin, and i thought he was going to shed, and he didnt. the skin just returned to normal. i thought maybe i imagined it.

perhaps 4 or 5 days ago he went very dull and a bluey hue too. and he's been extremely anti social since. not even peeking his head out of whichever hide he's in.

i thought he's definately shedding this time.. but today i had a look at him, and while he's still antisocial and behaving weird (not snappy at all. but you can just tell he's not up for anything except sitting in his hide.) the blue hue has all but dissapeared again, and theres no glaze on his eyes anymore... (there was before)...

    so what going on?

    thanks

Here's a very informative sticky that should help you out...

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...=332195#332195

If the snake has problems shedding there's another sticky for that too.

Don't confuse normal irredecence that you can sometimes see on these snakes (more so on other snake species) with a shed cycle.

Just read the above link and it should take you step by step through the whole process.

    Re: shedding question...

My snake is doing the same thing but he is still in blue. I noticed the iridescence you did but finally realized it was normal in certain light. You definately notice the difference when they do go into shed, noticeably in the eyes but in the later part of the blue phase you can really see it on the body. Make sure you up the humidity to around 70% to hopefully avoid any stuck shed.
