    Quick Lighting question

Hey! I know that balls need a light/dark schedule. My question is this: Do they need a lamp for the lighting and nothing for dark, or is natural sunlight and natural darkness all right? As in do I need a lamp to supply light and dark or will the light in the room be all right if temps and humidity are where they should be?

Natural light that comes in the room is sufficient to provide day/night light schedules for them. I don't provide any supplemental lighting to any of mine!

Neither do I. My vet tried to tell me she needs special lighting, but what's the point in lighting a snake that normally underground (in my case under her hides)? Oh vets.

    Re: Quick Lighting question

    Haha.

Ok, so she has a UTH on one side and her cool side's temp is right. If the ambient air temperature isnt right what can I do to fix this without using a heat lamp? Or should I get like one of those red lights? I have done the foil/duct tape thing with the top of the tank and her humidity is staying very well. She is closed in on three sides of her tank but should I try and get some black cloth and actually use it on three sides or is just being close in by walls good enough?

You could get another UTH or a space heater for the room.

Not quite sure what you are asking with the second question.

    Re: Quick Lighting question

Cool. Her temps have been good for the past two days but Ive been watching just in case something changes.

Anyway, I have a glass tank. Ive read the some people recommend covering three sides with corkboard or foam board to insulate it. I dont have that done, but she in enclose on three sides by wall where I have her sitting, meaning three sides are up against walls so to speak. Will this suffice or should I cover three sides with the board anyways, is what I meant by the second question.

    Re: Quick Lighting question

If you insulate it with the foam board, the ambient temps will probably go up a few degrees. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try!
