Are these accurate?

I got one for my clutch of 1 just layed and its reading temps that are for sure not right. My t-stat is set at 89 and its reading 94. I just hooked it up so is it just adjusting?

I would give it an hour or two to adjust and then check again. If anything, it should be lower than the temp your t-stat is set at. Where is the probe for your t-stat?

In the egg box right next to the probe on the thermometer.

Is that a Flukers? I have a few and they proved to be ok but you still get a 2-4 degree spread in either direction since they're not made to be exact. Thermostat probes are made to have a much smaller variance depending on the type and manufacturer.

Move it to your heating source (flexwatt I presume?) then adjust your thermostat accordingly until the thermometer reads the temp you want it

Yea, i have one of those for my incubator also... They arent that great.. Go to walmart and pick up a few "accurite" Thermometer/hygrometers.... They read the humidity and temperature. And are very accurate.. I just bought a few, and they are very cheap.. Prices may vary depending on your walmart, but i believe mine only costed $10 each!

You need to dangle the thermostat probe in the middle of the incubator or attach it to the heat source. As the eggs mature, they put off heat, so your thermostat is thinking it's reading a higher temp and instead is keeping the incubator too cool.

Just put the thermometer probe on the inside of the egg box, and sit the unit next to or on top of the egg box. This will read the proper temperatures. Adjust the thermostat as necessary to achieve 88-90 degrees in the incubator. I generally aim for 87-88, longer incubate time and bigger babies.
