"Unknown" pick up...

got a new snake today, a kind of whip snake, probably algerian, BUT I do not know for sure. I got it from a local pet shop and it was labeled as "Zornnatter" and the employee told me it would be from north africa, but after a lot of googling I have not found any similar looking snake (colourwise).
I guess it is a Coluber algirus/Hemorrhois algirus in a strange color, but maybe one of you knows better, pics will follow in a little while...
And next a little question, the little bugger has a stuck eyecap and mites (he is completly quarantined and the mite treatment is not the problem) but how do I help him out with his eyecap?
Any advice is highly appreciated...

Put him in wet pillow case and let him move around, make sure it's warm, or you may need to put like a heating pad or something to keep the snake warm, but leave him in for about 15 minutes or so, the motion with him trying to find a way out and rubbing his face against the pillow case should help, if that doesn't work try once more, but rewet it and make sure its warm again. Then they have other ways like prescription eye ointment from a vet or cotton swab with warm water gently rubbing over the eye, NO PRESSURE. If you don't see a little edge start to roll up like a contact lens after about 30-45 seconds stop. Those are just some ways. Pillow case works wonders though.

It looks like a hierophis - the color is what is throwing me off..........maybe a gemonensis?

The snake removed on his own after a little soak, so no further action was needed...

I'm glad it worked, usually a little soak is all it takes, because the snake knows that it has to remove it anyways. Just it's weither or not it can, and because some people who get snakes are so dumb founded, they don't keep them in the right condition, and proper requirements so the snake may not be able to.
