    Turtles in Northern WI

I finally found my pictures from my trip to Hayward last year. My sister, dad and I did some exploring and apparently we had great timing. All the turtles were starting to dig nests and the bears were everywhere enjoying the turtles' hard work.

This gal was in the road so my dad helped her out. She decided his feet looked to dry so she would help him out by watering them.

There she goes, on her way.

Big ol' snapper! He/she was very mellow.

First nest we saw. They were just digging them right on the side of the gravel roads.

    Egg!

This was the lake across the road where she most likely lived. Perfect turtle pond!

Skinny bear missing out on the turtle egg extravaganza.

Some one got to this nest.

A snapper we "guided" across the road. She was NOT a happy camper but we didn't want her to be hit by a car.

GGGGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! I want to eat your fingers!!

Another beautiful sunset in the north woods to end a day of herpin'

Headin' home with the wind in our hair...um ears. lol. Toda enjoying the fresh woodsy air. I think he was actually smiling!

I love those snappers possibly my absolute favorite species of turtle.

Thanks! I was so exited when I found the pictures on an un-marked disk (duh). I LOVE it up there! Always something new. That was actually the first time I got a good look at a black bear and I've been going up there since I was two. Usually we just catch a big butt scooting into the woods and everyone is like "was that a bear or a dog?".

My Grandma lives on a lake called Kelly Lake up past Greenbay, they have a garbage dumpsite near there that people go to just to see the black bears.
