dont trust what pet stores tell you, most of the time they dont know when each snake ate and they cant tell the difference between any of the snakes either.

Rule of thumb, regardless of when the snake last ate (or was thought to have eaten), is to leave the snake totally alone for 1 week before handling or feeding. This gives them a chance to settle into their new home and de-stress from being moved around. It also gives the owner a chance to get the new snake onto the 'house' feeding schedule.

As stated you should really give your new snake about a week to settle in before you handle or feed. But every snake is different. Before I started visiting this site I had snakes that I did not follow the recommended waiting time on and some ate some did not.

If it has been a week since your snake ate go ahead and try to feed him/her if she/he does not eat wait another five to seven days and try again.

Also, if you get a chance read the care sheet on this site. it is very helpful.

Just out of curiosity, How often did they tell you to feed him/her?

To add to the good advice above... the snake was merely holding on to his "branch" he was sitting on. He's not constricting your finger to kill and eat it, so it doesn't mean he's hungry for him to squeeze when you are unrolling him from your fingers/hand.
