Re: power feeding
If I consider it power feeding, I consider it a bad thing.
Not everyone will agree with what constitutes powerfeeding however.

Re: power feeding
If I am correct. Snakes don't really get the feeling you get when your full. So
imagine if you never felt full, but you continued to eat and eat..... and eat.
Would it be healthy? I believe the proper way to feed is from hatchling to 1
1500g they should eat 1-2 appropriate sized mice/rat(your preference) every 5
days, in order to get proper vitamins, protein, calcium etc while they are still at
the point in there life where they grow the most and the fastest. Then once
they are 1500+ they should only eat enough to stay healthy. Just one
appropriate sized rat every 7-8 days

Re: power feeding
I think that it depends upon the age and size of the snake... a baby might be wanting to eat a bit to grow but when it gets older it will most likely refuse food when it is not hungry... at least that is my experience.
1 baby normal ball python (male- Rios)
1 baby spider ball python (female - Missy)
1 albino checkered garter (male - Little Dude)
1 checkered garter (male - Hudinie)
1 albion checkered garter (female - Rescue)

Re: power feeding
Nobody wants a fat snake.
But no, it's not a good thing.

Re: power feeding
In my definition of power feeding (feeding multiple prey items every 2-3 days), it is very much a bad thing.

Re: power feeding
"1. What is powerfeeding? Is it risky?
Powerfeeding is a method of providing food more often than necessary to force growth. This can be done by offering food multiple times a week, feeding oversized prey or forcing an extra prey item down. The results of doing so have not been scientifically documented, but it is generally accepted that it is an irresponsible practice. "
Straight outta Compton...I mean the FAQ.
