OK NOW what would you do?

I asked before, but I had no piebalds then... lol

We got two the past week- a girl and a boy. Boy isn't here yet but should be here tomorrow or the next day.

I have an albino male and a het albino female- goes without saying I will mate those two.

I have a pair of piebalds- duh I will breed them together.

I have a pair of pastels

    A pair of het pieds

And I have a male black pastel

    Four normal girls

So... ? Should I breed the normals to the black pastel, the pastel, or the piebald or the albino? Or one to each??

I know the female pastel is going to go to the pastel male first bc he is old enough, the maybe the following year, I will put her with the black pastel.

But for the normals- should I make het pieds or het albinos to sell or should I make pastels to keep? Or both? What would you do?

I don't even think I need my het pied male, I just like him I will keep the het pied girl though, I can breed her to the pied male.

I could also put the female pastel with the piebald and make pastel 100% het pieds, right? Then breed one of those back to my unrelated het pied male and get pastel piebalds? I get so confused!

Well albino to albino, pied to pied, pied to het pied, and unless you wan to produce hets of either pieds or albino, or you are going to get more co doms I would plug the black pastel to pastel for a chance at pewters and black pastel to your norm girls the het pied male and pastel male aren't a need from my perspective

I'd shoot for producing some keeper female pastels, but that's just what I would do.

Re: OK NOW what would you do?

I'd love a female black pastel. But we're done buying for now (whew those pieds were not cheap) so I gotta make her if I want her! So I am thinking definitely at least one to him (the black pastel), or the female pastel to him.

I'd not mind a super pastel either, and I would love some pewters and some super black pastels.

    Hi,

Well if you like him then keep him.

What is of breedable size in your females? Until we know that we really can't say what to breed to what and when.

You can use multiple males on the same female as long as you remember not to mix co-dom with recessive - if you do you will never know what is what.

Are the het pieds 100% with paperwork from a trusted source? If they are you could breed them with each other and prove both out at once.

If pastel pieds are your goal the I would hold back a male pastel het pied and breed him back to your female het pied next year if she is already up to size.

But it all depends on the timescale and eventual goal.

If everything is up to size I would breed reccesives to their partners and breed the co-dom males to everything else.

That includes both the pastel and black pastel males to the female pastel.

But then if you really want to concentrate on pids in the future then forget that and breed the pied male to everything and hold back all the females.

Re: OK NOW what would you do?

My het pieds have paperwork and are both from 8-Ball Pythons They are the real deal.

All my normals but one are breeding size and the one that is not will be before too long.

My het albino is nearly there

My het pied and my pied girl are both babies

My pied male, albino male, and het pied male are all proven breeder adults

Pastel is old enough, not proven

Black pastel is small, he's an 08

Female pastel is not of size but is about half way there!

Thanks... I love getting input from what the pros would do!
