Brazilian Rainbow Boa Enclosure
Hi
I have decided on an Animal Plastics cage for my soon-to-be BRB, due to a $100 off sale on a 48x24x15 cage. I have read that the minimum cage size for an adult BRB is 48x24x24. Is 15" ok? Otherwise I'm going to be paying $100 more.
Also, what about ventilation? Do I need to get vents for the animal plastics cages or not?
A lock? Is a boa able to push open a sliding door?
About the door: sliding glass or sliding acrylic?
Heat? Should I buy 11" flexwatt that comes with it? Does it come already wired? Does it come with a thermostat?
Ok. Last one. Promise. (I think. ) My bedroom has a white&blue theme, so I'd kind of like a white cage instead of a black one, but I'm not sure. Can anyone send me a pic of a white animal plastics cage?
Thanks!

Re: Brazilian Rainbow Boa Enclosure
I've not heard that BRB need to be in a cage of that size!
The AP comes with vents, you wont need any more.
Your getting a baby right? Better think about a different set up while he grows into his new one. They are big cages....
An adult can't open the sliders, get a lock anyways. Acrylic scratches easily.
Get the flexwatt if you want, or use heat cable. Either way, use a good quality programmable thermostat.
I like the white.

Re: Brazilian Rainbow Boa Enclosure
Thanks!
Actually, I'm getting an adult. I was planning on a baby, but there's an adult in my area that is up for sale. 5.5' female.

Does Flexwatt work with rheostats?

Re: Brazilian Rainbow Boa Enclosure
Don't count on it. Rheostats fluctuate, and can do so wildly. If you're putting money into a big cage, spend the 60-75$ for a good programmable thermostat.

Ranco, Johnson, Helix, we have all three, and they work like a charm!

Re: Brazilian Rainbow Boa Enclosure
I like white cages better than black (I have both). The black is very dark inside, while the white is more condusive to ambient light. Making for a better looking enclosure and allowing easier viewing of my snake.
Not that I can say anything bad about AP cages, but the Proline cages seem very appealing to me because they allow ambient light to pass through, making additional lighting inside the cage unnecessary. These will probably be what I get next (when I can afford them).

Re: Brazilian Rainbow Boa Enclosure
Thanks, everybody! I ended up going with the AP T10 (white). It was on sale. With flexwatt. Still have to get a thermostat, but I can do that when she's on quarantine.
