pics of my second rack build

these are a few pics of my second rack build it a lot straighter than the first one i built last year. I did make the same mistake this time again ( with out seeing it until I had started to assemble it). I used to thin of a wood for the shelves again. I need ot use the same thickness for the shelves to prevent the bowing I am seeing with it empty and all.. So when I get the lumber to finish it I got o get enough to make bracing for the front and the back, so it can support the weight of 2 tuba shelf. it bring my total caging up to 24 snakes plus with some room ot exapnd in the future if I need too. the pics are not the best sorry.

firswt up is the base front/back since ther no back on it yet it makes it easier to move in the room as needed.

the rest of the pics are just some close ups and a rough ideal of its look.
it measures 5ft high 27 inches deep( with out the back) and just a tab over 4ft wide. I used 19/32 for the side wall ( will suggest this for the shelves as well.)
run down on the parts list

    2 sheets of the 19/32 (planned cuts were 5'x27", 5'x 21", and a 4'x3' ( times too)
2 sheets of ( i think 3/8 plywood with shleve of 4'x27"times 3 per sheet)

6 1"x2" x8' (cut into 26 " length pieces, glad I cut the extra piece with out thinking)

1 1"x4"x8; board( foot piece to get off floor cut into 2 1"x4"x4' once peice each front and back ( to prevent snake that escape to hide under shelves)

    1 1lb box of 1 1/4" drywall screws.

also a pair of 2"x4"x25" pieces cut to increas the size of the foot print and to screw the 1x4 too.

I made a piece from scrape 1x2( six inches in leanght to space my shelves with ( the side bracket 1x2) too soI can have a even looking build)

I did use one of the 4x4 pieces ripped down to the 4x27 for the base shelve ( future buils will all be the same thickness of board)

anyhow enough typing here are the pics.

lol you can see one of my bps tubs as I checked ot make sure I had the spacing right before I called it a day.and yes th elids are still on the tubs.. I do that with all the snakes to preven anyone of them from trying to squeeze though a handle spot were there a bigger gap lol..

whenI get finsihed with the rack ( backing on it will require 2 people ot move it since i strained when it was just the ( first pic ) done to take away from the window so I could makes sure I had enough room to slide the shleve pieces into place.( snake room getting too small lol)

Even with thicker shelves you'll have sagging with wide a span going unsupported.

Just cut some slats out of 1/4" ply and put them down the middle.
