Picking up a *therapy* corn tomorrow...

The weekend our place burned down I was supposed to be picking up a female normal corn snake.

The family was not really into her anymore (but really wanted her best interests covered), the son had grown up, and they wanted to find her a new home. Really nice family, and a nice healthy snake.

As it turned out the people that had her for adoption were good friends with the people that lived two spaces below us... small world!

I pulled a few tubs from the snake room, and with the supplies I got from Deb (as well as a T-stat from Aleesha!) I am going to be picking her up tomorrow and bringing her to the halfway house (our term for the sublet).

Having a busy corn around will be fun, and will be a great distraction. I have 2 bps and one king with me. And fun as they are... I remember why I have many. A few minutes of handling and the BPs are trying to get away... the king is great but she is the same, she has an agenda.

So pics to follow when I get her. Her name is Willow and I am thinking that I do not hate the name. So we will see, it may stay. Not like she is going to come when I call her or anything.

What a nice story, such unfortunate events, but i believe you 100% they are the best therapy, before my ex left me 2 years ago there were a lot of bad things done around here that ended up killing my 2 juv, bp's and leopard gecko i was never the same again, just recently got into leo's again and picked up a pair , had to drive a long way to get them but i was able to... i'd like to get back into snakes and everything again but i dont have anything as far as tstats or anythign anymore either she smashed it all and well it is a sad thing .

Sorry to hear about that, it sounds awful. I think that would be one of my worst fears, to lose my animals to someone else's nonsense. I say that, but it did almost happen.

I pick this girl up tonight. I went and pulled some tubs out of the fire early on, and think there are some salvageable, just soaking them and seeing if I can get the smoke out of them.

I got supplies sent so I am good for that and she can just settle in. But corns are so resilient I am not super concerned about the settling in part. They are too busy to take the night off.

She is just a normal adult female corn. And in true style she promptly christened me.

She has a weird bottom... where her tail tapers off is bulbous? But they say she has been like this since birth so I am not concerned, but it is odd looking to say the least.

She came out and ran around, did the *flick* *flick* and the *jab* *jab*... so all is good in the world of corns and humans.

maybe, he's talking about the "hips" that some older mature female corns get at the base of their tail? They dont stick out a lot, just, noticeable enough to freak some people out!!!

    Del

Looks like the First thread and the last pic... not the middle one though. Especially like the last link to the pic. Identical to that.

    Babe

Is the middle aged spread similar to what Derek posted in the third link above?
