Check list...need you to review it

So I'm going to get my equipment monday and probably a snake wednesday (found a local breeder). Let me know if I need to add to the check list

    -UTH
    -Thermostat
    -Thermometer/hyrdrometer (digital)
-10 gal with lid and locks
    -two hides
    -water dish

Another thing.... the pet store sells hides and water dishes very costly. Is there a way to use inexpensive stuff for hides and water dish? I'm getting a baby ball.

    Thanks

Need to decide on a substrate, paper, aspen, coconut bark, mulch, just remember...NO pine or cedar. Cereal bowl from Walmart $1.00 for water. Black tupperwear containers with holes cut in them make good hides, Use your imagination, don't pay those pet store prices.

Hope you don't mind me busting into your thread. :-)
I was going to get some smallish plastic bowls on sale at my local grocery for $1 each, but I was afraid they'd be too light and the snake would move them around. They are those lovely bright summer picnic colors, but I don't care if they snake won't!

For a water bowl, Petco sell some nice ceramic bowls for like $2.50. I use the 3.5 inch eggshell colored ones for small snakes/balls. They are found in the small animal section, not in the reptile section.
Papertowels are fine and easy to find anywhere.
I agree with the small tupperware with an entrance cut in it. Don't use the lid and just turn it over and make like a cave entrance. If they don't have black, pretty much any color will do.
If your lid will be a screen top,you will need to cover say 80% with some kind of plastic to retain humidity and heat.
Thermostats can be expensive. You may try a dimmer switch or reostat. Some cheaper ones can be found at Lowes or Home Depot.

The plastic bowls do tip easily. At night when your BP is roaming they have a tendency to crawl over them and tip them. Cut a hole in them, turn them upside down and use them as hides. I get the glass bowls in the housewear dept for water bowls, they are too heavy to tip.

Or you could go to Walmart and get an Accurite and do this.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, theses are really good enclosures and are very secure too.
