I think your snake is in the 1 year old range. They could be bigger or smaller depending on how they were fed.

Ok so ..... Hatching around august of last year?????.........The breeders over shipped ball pythons to Petco so I know that Petco was feeding it hoppers, and that is what I am currently feeding it..... An adult mouse seems to be too big for it... (I gave it one and it hit and then curled around it and would not try to eat it, so I offered a hopper and it ate that, also the hopper seems like it is still a strecth for the head getting around the shoulders) Right now it is wanting to eat every other day. So I am not sure what Petco had for a feeding schedule. Unfortunately the Petco around my house really does not keep much information on their snakes.

The size really depends of how it was fed. My ball python is almost a year and he is 26 inches. I think he was around 16-18 inches when I got him and he was 2-3 months old.

Ok we just got back from the vets for an initial check up... I found out that my baby is a male snake that currenly weighs 108.5 grams and is measuring out at 1905 inches. Any guestimations at his age... I am guessing Jan or Feb 09.

    Re: Length corralating with age????

    Hi,

There really isn't any way to be certain.

Size is based more on how they were eating than actual age.

if they were really stubborn non-eaters or the breeder had them on a maintenance diet only they really wouldn't grow much at all.

So he could have been a horrible eater from late last year or an ok eater from early this year.

Then again at 158 and three-quarter feet he might have been from the jurrasic era.

Thanks..... He has been a avid eater in the last week and a half..... Now I got him from Petco where they were feeding him a couple of hoppers a week,.. So I do not think that his growth was stunted in any way. His muscle tone is great and he is very active, of course in the middle of the night. I have to reset a certain bush in his tank every morning. So from what I have been seeing on this place I am pretty comfortable guessing a hatching in February of 2009.

They vary too much to rely on size for age. My female '08 fed a regular once a week diet hit 600 grams and around 30 inches(maybe a little more, hard to measure them well) at around 7 months old.

Females are suppose to be bigger though.... Do you have a male that I can compare him to?

My boyfriend and I bought our BP at the same time, and they were the exact same size. Now, mine is bigger than his. Mine is also the better eater. We have no idea how old they are though.
