    Burmese or Retic

I'm looking to get a burmese or a Reticulated python soon and I was wondering which one you would suggest. This would be my first BIG snake. I have 2 BP's and 1 Nic Boa. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

I've never owned a retic, but I like my burms just fine and they are more then enough to satisfy my big snake cravings.

I have been reading that burms have a more docile temperment. Not sure if that is true or not...but I really do love how albino burms look!

    Re: Burmese or Retic

Personally never owned a Burm, but I absolutely love my two 'tics. Both of mine are good natured and docile, and I prefer the patterns and morphs of the retic over the burms.

    Re: Burmese or Retic

    Maybe these questios should help

    1) are you financially prepared for a BIIG snake?

    if yes, proceed

if no, try to search for the "dwarf" localities...although they can still get quite big and a bit pricey

    2) are you prepared for a snake with (usually) an attitude?

    if yes, retic

    if no, burm

    3) are you getting a normal morph? you want one that's prettier?

    if yes to both, retic

    4) do you want a REALLY rewarding animal?

    if yes, retic

    5) are you prepared to deal with 'cage pushing'?

    if no, burm

As you can see....I'm a retic fan...hehehe, so I tend to be biased towards (dwarf) retics

This is my 19 year old cousin who moonlights as a model having her pic taken with my 3 year old dwarf retic

Good luck in your choice...and don't forget to research thoroughly

    Re: Burmese or Retic

i never truely understand these threads, they pop up on every forum and is this vs that, its like buying a car,all people can do is give thier opinions over the ford vs chevy, but its your research and what your most comfortable that is the bottom line.

you have your loyalist, the burm lovers will say burms, the tic lovers will say them,,i ave a burm,no tic,but i would probably say retic, simply more morphs currently available is my reasoning behind it.

    Re: Burmese or Retic

im not really into either. i know that i couldn't deal with all of the requirements that come along with these giants. i have mad respect for those who keep them!!

i have a liking for the tics. the morphs are awsome!! but are you ready for something that is going to get 3X the size of you???
