wasting time.
Well, I am about to go absolutely crazy because I am now on day 52....
So a question to pass the time.
On average please give me a time frame of events.
Once the baby snake puts a slit in the egg...
how long till it is out of the egg?
how long till it is totally separated from the egg?
how long till the first shed?
Humor me here...

Can be as quick as a few hours, or as long as three days or so... Depends really. If you are in doubt of its livelihood, POKE it. It should respond by moving at your touch.

Once it is completely out, the umbilicus should have already seperated. There may be a bit of yolk attached still, depending. Leave it be, it will fall off on its own.
how long till the first shed?
A week or two, depending again on several things.

Re: wasting time.
You can always set up an easy chair, a laptop and a mini-fridge for snacks and drinks right in front of the incubator.

And don't forget the pillow and blanket while you're at it.

Re: wasting time.
mike,
im was in the same situation only mine was a huge exception to all the rules.
i cut and it took 5 days for it to come completely out of the egg but still attached. another 3 days and it was loose with the umblical still there. now im on my 3rd week and the umbilcal is almost gone but the baby hasn't shed. im thinking as soon as the umbilcal is completely gone, it will shed.
it is a fiesty little one though!! she nips me every time i pick her up.
my point is.....you can never tell!!! just sit back and wait for it all to happen!!

Re: wasting time.
Are they driving you nuts yet?
I wish there was a set amount of time for each phase and that each and everyone of them would be doing their thing in a timely fashion...............sadly it does not happen this way and the last couple of days of incubation are usually the worth, they will just drive you insane.
Relax and enjoy you are almost there.
