    34 qt Sterilite Container

hello new here... i just bought a 34 qt / 32 L tub. what size heat pad do i use?

i've also been reading how heat pads melt these plastic tubs so i will be investing in some kind of heat controller such as a rheostat? what do they look like?

    thanks in advance!

    32 litres = 8.32 us gallons... so a 10 gallon heat pad?

You can try lllreptile, bean farm, reptile basics for your thermostats, if you need one immediately (yes), just go to home depot to the electrical dept and pick up a levitron lamp dimmer $10, and while you are there pick up an accurite thermometer/hygrometer with a probe, that will help you monitor your hot side temp & your cool side temps and your humidity.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I bought the Fluker's Thermo-Hygrometer but i don't think it has a probe. Should I return it or can I make good use of this in my tub?

Will a 10 gallon heat pad be succifient for my 32 litre tub?

yea get a thermostat on there and get a thermometer with a probe so you can make sure it's setting at the right temp inside the tub. i even wrap my heat pads in several layers of foil and then use the foil tape all over to hold them down. i use the 35 qt sterilites and it works well for me.

After reading this reply, I decided to use 2 layers of TINFOIL then foil tape to hold the heat pad down.

After reading your reply again, did you mean several layers of FOIL TAPE then more to hold it down? Will 2 layers of TIN FOIL be ok? My temps have been ok for the past 48 hrs......

In general you will want a heat pad that will cover 1/3 to 1/2 of the floor space in your tub.

Here's a sticky to help you if you decide to go with a rheostat.

Spaniard is right about the heat pad size. I think the ten gal heater will be too small.
