Meet the new Blue Tongue Skink!!

That's right, I finally got the BTS I've always wanted thanks to CL and a very sweet lady.

The young BTS I had was sold to a friend who had been looking for a Merauke, so I was skink-less until I found a great ad on CL.

So, here is the sweet new fella! Male Irian Jaya, @5 years old.

In his new, but temporary, tank home (building a bigger enclosure ASAP):

Whatcha think? He's a sweet boy who likes to cuddle. And even though he does have stubbed toes and slightly blocked nostrils, he seems to be getting along fine so far. My biggest challenge with him is going to be getting him to eat the right foods...

Oh, and we're looking for a name for him as well. Ari suggested Topaz, based on his coloration, and I like that but I'd like to hear other suggestions as well.

Lol for some reason when I read "blue tongue skink" i was picturing a full blue-bodied lizard.

Yeah, I know. Well, with his nostrils partially blocked he may actually do that!

I'll try to get some better pictures soon. He's got the folks over at BTS.net stumped with his colors.

He does have a slight eye infection that the previous owner gave me prescription eye drops for. But yes, in the pictures he is sound asleep.

He's a good boy so far. Doesn't eat much, but that's probably because he's not getting his "preferred" food (which was WAY too fatty for him). He'll come around once he realizes that his new mom knows what's good and what's junk.

maybe Garfield? i know a cat name but still, he's got the orange/tan colors and eats things he shouldn't? lol, oh lord why can i always name other's pets butnever my own LOL.
