    Am I doing something wrong?

I am just concerned because my ball python just sits in her hide all day and night... If I get here out she is completely okay, and doesn't seem to have any problems. I have checked everything in her tub, but can't find anything wrong. She is, however, preparing to shed (her eyes are blue and her skin looks very dull), but I don't know if that is related. She is just a baby, about 4 weeks old.
Should I be concerned about this?

Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name - liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names - liberty and tyranny."

    Nope...

Ball Pythons are not that active in general.

Things sound like they are fine.

Considering a Ball Python only needs a meal a week or so, why would they need to go out hunting every night?

So, shorter answer, no. Don't worry about it.

Unless you are watching her 24/7, you don't know for sure if she comes out. BPs are supposed to spend most of their time hiding, and they'll stay in their hide even more when in shed, so to me it sounds like things are good.

Re: Am I doing something wrong?

Mine only comes out at night for a few minutes and he's back in his hides. It's their nature. In the wild, they're from Africa so in a hotter climate. They burrow underground (hence the hides, humidity and inactivity) They come out at dusk to hunt, but for short periods of time. Mine comes out around 10pm clockwork (most of the time, unless he's just ate) for only 10-15 mins and is back in his hides. You never know how active they are when you go to bed. I would venture to say yours is just fine

It's funny that the better we become at keeping our snakes the less we see them. How many hobbies are there where your reward for being good at it is that you never see your pet? Oh well no one ever said were were normal.

By the way Drew, corns make great display snakes. They are always out and about and come in very bright colors.

When you see your BP all the time is when you need to worry. I honestly get worried when I see my BP out and about for more than a trip to the other side of the enclosure. I check all my temps and my humidity and then stare at her.

"Why won't you go back in your hide. Are you too good for your hide."
