Girls locking togeather?
Will girls lock? I have 2 girls. They each have been popped. I put them togeather for a few moments and they locked. I KNOW cinny is a female, I have seen her lock with my male pastel. I thought she was gravid but she hasn't laid, so I thought I was safe in housing them togeather for a few moments. Now Pazz popped as a girl, and probed 4 scales. Do you think they where just messing around and are really both girls? I didn't try and seperate them, but was not happy to see this. On the other hand I would rather know now then later if Pazz is a boy not a girl like I was told he/she is. I threw Fiesty back in with Cinny and they where locked within minutes, so hopefully if Cinny gives me eggs the dad will be fiesty.
P.s yes I know this is not the first time this has happened to me BUT they BOTH where popped as female so I am at a loss.

Re: Girls locking togeather?
They have popped as females but actually the hemipenes may not have been released. the most common mistake popping is thinking you have a girl when in reality you have a boy that just wont let his hemipenes be pushed out. It happens. Who ever was on the bottom of the lock is your male IMO

Probing is the only definite for sure way to tell.

Re: Girls locking togeather?
I thought probing wasn't 100% either.
I've read that the only way to be 100% certain of a snake's sex is to see the hemipenes on a male or to see a female lay eggs. It is possible I've only seen that in reference to corn snakes, but it seems like it would apply to BPs too.

Isn't the male usually the one who has the tail on top?
