Delilah's Bath
I just gave Delilah another soak, since her shedding didn't go so well... but she actually seemed to enjoy the bath, LOL. She looks really pretty now that her shed is complete, and she's also finally getting bigger.
Btw, how does her weight look? She's about 8 months old (??) and weighed in at 247g yesterday, 48 hours after feeding on a mouse... after the previous feeding she weighed 232, so is that sounding about right? This is my first snake, so I have no point of reference yet. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

You can see the skin that was giving her trouble - right around the "neck"

Is that a snake smile?

Re: Delilah's Bath
Hi, she looks great. My females that are around 8-10 months old are over 500 grams, and some over 700 gram. I suggest increasing her prey size.

I'm not 100% sure about her age, so I might be overestimating... but if she's ready, I'd be happy to increase her prey! She gobbled a normal sized mouse (white/pet-type) this week, so should I try a rat? She completely rejected the rat pup we tried a while back, and took immediately to the mice - so maybe two mice would be preferred over a rat?

Re: Delilah's Bath
FYI - This is how she looked when I got her, at the end of February (right around the time I joined the forum). Hard to tell from the picture, but I think she has grown a fair amount!

Yes it does look like she has grown since you got her. I have a female who wont touch rats at all and only eats mice, until last feeding I slipped her a Large Mouse and a Weaned Rat and she put them both down so I will try and work on weaned rats from now on til she takes to bigger ones. Tough to say on weight since it varies so much. I have a 1.5 year old Female that is 796g on empty and my other Female that is 1656g on empty. The larger one has only eaten rats since she was a baby. So I dont know if the Rats actually had that much impact on groing due to higher nutritional value but it seems that way. Now that I have my smaller Female eating Weaned Rats I am hoping for a nice spike in size.

I have a female Pastel just a touch bigger than yours and she gobbles live mice just like your girl. because of her head size and the fact that she's still probably not big enough to eat a small rat, try feeding her two mice at a time.
That's what I do. I feed her one, let her completely swallow it, get comfy and then drop in the second. She scarfs and then starts poking around for a third!! I'm waiting until she adds some size to go for three. By that point, hopefully she'll be on small rats.
