I purchased some 2 part banana flavor diet b/c my girl wont eat the new stuff.

it says to mix 50/50 by weight not volume.

whats the easiest way of going about this. I have a scale but seems tedious to weight it out esp wen working with one crestie


Do you think if I mad a nice amount in bulk and put it in the fridge it will last?? install of weighing out small increments of powder...I'mma feel like a drug dealer

I don't like keeping it in the fridge for more than a couple days. It doesn't seem to last and the geckos don't seem to like it much.

I've had great success however with freezing it. I get disposeable 1/2oz cups and lids for said cups and portion out some food into those, place them on a cookie sheet, then freeze. Then I store them in ziplock freezer bags. I have quite a few geckos to feed so this really expedites things time-wise.

Some people have different opinions on whether or not freezing is okay for the food. I have had NO ill effects, my geckos eat it just fine (actually they seem to prefer it as after freezing it's a bit thicker and they chow it down easier) and I have had no health issues in my small colony. I have read on the Repashy forums that others have done this with both crested and day geckos and no ill effects had come even after years of doing so...

It might be a solution.

Otherwise, you might want to weigh out a teaspoon of each to get an idea of weights. Then simply take note of the ratio and work from there.

Just mix the whole amount of dry diet together at the same time. There is no reason to weigh it out for every single feeding. Get a scale, place the container you will use for mixing it in on the scale and zero it out. Poor in all of the flavor/nectar and take note of the weight. Then zero the scale again and add enough base to equal the weight of the nectar. Mix it all up and you are ready to go--just add water to the appropriate amount for each feeding. If you don't want to mix it all in case they don't like that flavor just do a smaller amount to start with.

yes, that will work. thats what i did today.

I got my diet today. I have a little scoop spoon..One full scoop full of DIet weights out to 0.5g. a full spoon of nectar weighs 2.0 g. `

I replace it every day or 2 and most of the water has evaporated anyways. I mist my cages down every night so the water they can get directly from the glass walls of the cage. I also have a small water bowl next to the food bowl and I have seen them drink from it.
I also know people who put the powder in completely dry. And its working out just fine for their geckos.

I am working with the 2 part diet...not the complete MRP like u think

The dry diet thing is something that's pretty contentious on the Repashy forums. I don't think Allen Repashy himself is very fond of it.

I feel for those geckos who're subjected to such a horrible food source. Dry? YUCK.

I would definitely not give the powder dry. Would you like to be given a mouthful of flour and expected to eat it with no moisture added? I'm sure the geckos will probably eat it if offered no alternative because they are not prone to starving themselves, but I cannot imagine it is enjoyable or really all that safe either--think of the possible choking hazard.
