breeding ?
ok so i have a female pastel that layed eggs for me last year, it was her first season and she layed 5 good eggs, she ovulated last year on 4-25-08 she had locked up numerous times before her ovulation, so my question is this year she hadnt locked up with anyone untill about a week ago, she weights more then she did last year and is been locked up for about three straight days, so its about a month later this year from last for locking up, can she still ovulate later and lay eggs for me even knowing shes about a month to two months later this year then last?
thanks

Re: breeding ?
I have girls that have laid a month or more later the following year. One girl has been 2-3 weeks later every year for the past 3 years so I say you should be good to go.

thanks!! im just not sure of what to expect this year cause its only my second year of breeding, and last year it was so good that i think i might be a little spoiled, last year i had all 7 females lay eggs and every egg was fertile and had good snakes in all of them!!!
so it is typical for females to lay different times of the year every year?

Re: breeding ?
It's kinda like this. You have a birthday, Your sibs from different years have different birthdays. Correct? Why? because your Mom became prego at a different time of the year. Snakes are the same.

Re: breeding ?
I believe there are many factors on when they produce. My females all laid around Late May thru June in 2007. The Same girls laid March thru April Last year. The Same girls this year are running late again, got my first clutch the last week of April and 2 more clutches this week. Still have 6-8 more girls to go.
So the difference I believe is normal depending on all the eviromental factors and the health factors of the snakes.
