    Question Incubators

Where do y'all get your incubators? We're seriously considering breeding next year if all goes well but we want to make sure we have the right equipment to do the job right.
Any tips, pointers and so forth regarding incubators would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Incubators

An incubator consist of 90 degrees and over 90% humidity. You use heat tape, tubs, moist vermiculite, Tstat, and an old fridge, freezer, cooler, anything that seals tight. Check out the DIY forum.

    Re: Incubators

We made ours out of an old glass front refridgerated cooler that we picked up for $10.00 (it used to hold worms for fish bait). Took about 20 minutes to change it over to an incubator that nicely holds 6 clutches.

    Here's a picture of it....

A search on this site should also give you a fair number of threads of other homemade incubator ideas.

    Re: Incubators

I appreciate the ideas. I didn't know you could convert a cooler to an incubator! Definitely worth looking into!

    Re: Incubators

I appreciate the link. I have a small apartment size refrigerator that I'm thinking about converting. I've got time so it's not like I'm rushed to get somethign set up right now.

I love it when people tell me, "You should think before you speak!" I'm like, "I did. It's what I think and I really don't give a crap what other people think."
