Newspaper - how often do you clean?

Hi, my bp has mites. We are cleaning out his tank today. Not putting aspen back in. Am thinking of moving to newspaper.

How often do you change it? Am I going to have to empty his tank out every day and put new sheets in?

How many layers do you use?

Is my Sunday paper ok or do I need blank?

Thanks so much. We really want to keep him happy and healthy.

I keep all my animals on paper I change paper once a week every week. Sometimes they need it twice cause they love to hold a huge poop til they get clean paper.

I acutally use unprinted newspaper (newsprint) from uline.com. I use two sheets at a time. If folded, you will only need one sheet. You should change the newspaper once it has been soiled. This may be every few days, or every few weeks. I just depends on when you BP decides to soil it.

You're going to need some Provent A Mite or PAM for short, to treat your enclosure in order to permanently get rid of the mites. PAM is the only thing that kills not only mites but their eggs. Follow the directions on the can exactly.

    You can purchase that here...http://www.pro-products.com/

As for the newspaper, you can use the printed kind, but your animal could get a little "inky", however its none toxic and will not harm him. I clean once a week unless someone tips a water bowl or pees profusely. I doulbe up and use two layers, but I use kraft paper which is a little thicker.
