Suggestions on humidity
Hi!
The humidity in my boys tank is constant at 53-55%, I've never had any problems with it.
However for the past few weeks my ball is getting in his waterbowl, which causes the water to spill over. This causes the humidity to rise to around 70%.
I keep him on paper towels which I have to change atleast daily because of this, but if am at work I don't notice the spillage until I get home. So am worried that being at such high humidity for so long will cause him infection and scale rot.
I have tried changing water bowls from shallow to deeper, from ceramic to tupperwares. The only one that seems to do ok is a small round bowl from the petshop. But I don't know if it might be too small.
Any suggestions please...
PS, I have checked him for mites just in case this was the reason for him bathing lately but haven't found any.
Thanks!

Re: Suggestions on humidity
70% humidity is not a bad thing, I have a few soakers, and to combat spillage problems, I only put a little water in the bowl, granted I have to check and change the water daily, but that's par for the course

Re: Suggestions on humidity
If you get a bowl that is a smaller diameter it could help to bring your humidity down. Its not really how deep or shallow but how wide a bowl is that determines how much water evaporates into the air.

Re: Suggestions on humidity
70% for a few hours won't hurt your snake. now if its 90% for a few days, then you should worry.
If the water bowl is tipping, maybe you could find a heavier ceramic dish?

Am just concerned that being at around 70% for a few hours every day might be harmful.

It's not that he tips the bowls but he gets inside. It quite cute to see him though!
I will try getting a slightly larger bowl but only half filling it see how that goes.
Thanks!!
