    Got rid of my asf...

Though I somehow liked my first asf project, I fed them all of 2 days ago,
    Reasons for this are:

1.: Very few litters (maybe because my buck was too old)
2.: Very slow growth rate (I have got bigger mice in the same time then my first asf litter did need to grow)
    3.: Snakes needed food...

At the moment I am not quite certain if I will start an other Asf project or if I will start breeding rats (I will need rats in the near future for sure, because my BCI is a hungry little hustler)

It takes a little while to get things established with asf's in regards to getting them to feed size, productive litters etc., maybe you'll have better luck next time. I'm still buying rats as feeders 'til my asf littlers are large enough to begin feeding off.

Re: Got rid of my asf...

Yeahh, it might be true that I should have been a little more patient, but in the end I guess a rat colony makes more sense for me:
    Fuzzies for the corn
Weanlings and sub adults for the ball
    Adults for the BCI
I like to have rodents around me, but I am somehow limited in space...
If there will be a significant increase of scaly inhabitants in my flat, I guess I will think over it again, but by now I am quite certain there will be a Flowrock rattery within the next two or three month...

Re: Got rid of my asf...

Yesterday I was thinking of feeding off my asf but I think I might wait a while. I can get a trio any time for $15. The little buggers bit me through the cage yesterday and it was so hard to get what I needed done with the feeders with a bloody finger. Also rats seem to give more babies nad they are faster growing. If i run out of room I'll get rid of them as they take up space that could be used for productive rats.
    Too many pets to list!
