'07 Female - Breeding Question
I have an '07 normal female. She's a great eater (never misses a meal) and has been gaining weight steadily since we got her. Today I weighed her and while she has not pooped yet (fed on 4/10) and is in the last stages of a shed (going out of blue), she weighed 992g today. My minimum for breeding is 1500g. Would it be ok to breed her once she reaches that weight or should I wait till after next winter? With the way she's eating (1 small rat/week), she could put on that weight before then.
I also have an '06 girl that I want to breed and she is 913g. She also eats 1 small rat/week, so I might end up with 3 breedable females next go around.

Re: '07 Female - Breeding Question
I try to get my females a little over 1500 or at least a good solid 1500 on empty. and I would say that by next winter if she stays eating well than she should be over 1500

Re: '07 Female - Breeding Question
Well this past season, I started pairing in late September, early October. If she is 1500 or more, would it be ok to start her breeding?

Re: '07 Female - Breeding Question
with the way females are starting to produce at any time of the year I would say its fine to start breeding at 1500g as long as they are well proportioned, not fat.
