    Coastal Carpet??

In January of this year, we purchased this carpet python. We were told at the time of the purchase that she is a coastal carpet, but she doesn't seem to match the pictures that I've been seeing... What do you think?

    Re: Coastal Carpet??

coastals can look like that when they're that small... the three subspecies can really look very similar at that young of an age.

to me, it looks like a typical coastal carpet, but it could be a cross just as easily. if you bought it as a coastal then i'd run with that.

    Re: Coastal Carpet??

It could be a coastal but I see some IJ influence.

I guess the main question you should be asking yourself is, how confident in the seller are you? If you are asking what it is here, then you don't seem to be very confident that you got what you paid for. If you are happy with the animal, then that is all that really matters. But if you have your heart set on a coastal, jungle, IJ, etc., then you need to research out reputable breeders to make sure that you get what you pay for.

    Re: Coastal Carpet??

Not really a matter of being dissatisfied with the snake as she is absolutely gorgeous and we are thrilled with her... Have wanted a carpet, and weren't really picky as to what kind. Son thought Arpeggio was a very sharp looking snake, and we actually saw her mom prior to purchasing her. We just weren't sure how much of a color/pattern change the younger ones go through on the way to adult-hood as she is our first (but probably not last) adventure into "carpet Land"
