Possible follow-up on the "burmese"(ball) python in the ProHR669 poster

So, I had an idea.. Being a photographer myself, only Molotov cocktails come to mind if an image I had taken was being misrepresented in the way that the ball python image in the pro HR669 poster that was posted here in several other threads has been.

I am trying to contact the original photographer. From what I know about the stock world, a photographer takes an image, gives it to a stock site. A buyer comes forward and purchases rights to the image for x amount of time and for y copies in z format. Photographer gets a check and is none the wiser about HOW the image is used or WHERE.

It is my understanding that the photographer has no idea his image is being misused in this way. There may be a clause about this in the contract, or something, maybe the rights to the image can be pulled so that the publishers HAVE to stop using it immediately. I want to talk to him and tell him what damage this bill may do, and what else may happen to the reptile community because of the misuse of this image.

Do you guys even think it is worth it for me to pursue this?

I've gotten in touch with the publisher he works with, but not the photographer himself. The publisher states that they are who I would go through to talk to him. I explained the situation about a possible misused image to the person who emailed me and I am waiting on a response.

I agree, go for it. since they used an image and labeled it incorrectly, due to them sitting on their brains and not researching properly, let them get a finanacial slap.

Received another e-mail.. The person i was talking to thought i was the photographers legal representative. I told her i was in absolutely NO way Jim's legal representative or council, but went and explained the entire situation to her.

We'll see what she says back. I think I come off as a nut job with some of this.. For some reason I bet she thinks I'm wearing a tin foil hat. .. o.O;
