Insect Repellent
Hi,
So I do a lot of field herping... but here in southern TX the mosquitoes like to drink your blood... A LOT.
I've heard insect repellent is toxic to reptiles and amphibians..how about the ones made of "natural ingredients"? I have one with eucalyptus extracts?
I don't mind the itching so much, although I do a bit , but we have some West Nile Virus over here that I'd hate to get infected with.
Any input?
Thanks,
MH

Re: Insect Repellent
I use a 0.2 - 0.26 BAC of Jack Daniel's to keep the mosquitoes away when I go camping, but that might interfere with your herping.

Re: Insect Repellent
The skin so soft really works, I used to use it on the horses also for the biting flies

We used to use this at the Wildlife Center so it should not be toxic. Works pretty well.

I think so. If it's not keeping them off me, I'm at least not bothered by them.

Re: Insect Repellent
i use the same stuff that people use as generic provent a mite.
it's in the orangish gold can, sold at walmart in the hunting and fishing section.
i also spray my doors and walls (where they meet the floors) of my home once a month with it to keep ants out. it seems to do the trick.
