Re: Did You Call Your Representative Today?

    Yup! Called & emailed.

For those of you that haven't called yet, don't be afraid of it! I was a little bit; I've never called a congressman's office before. I told the aide that answered the phone why I was calling, and told her I'd never called before so I wasn't really sure what to say. She told me that they wanted my name & address so they could get back to me if they wanted (and/or just to make sure I was calling the right representative so they could know not to listen to me if I wasn't), and she said that some people just call & say something like "opposed to HR 669" and that's it, or I could give more reasons if I wanted. I told her I could probably go on for about an hour as to all the reasons I was opposed to the bill, but I just highlighted some of the one that were most important to me, and left it at that.

    Try it, you'll like it!

I've been on a roll too! I emailed. Then I called all 4 of my representatives, and talked ot an actual live person at each office, and they were quite polite.
I then went to calling vets, and faxed the flier to all the vets that were too busy to talk on the phone(it's monday after easter, they're very busy of course).
Then I went to get letters printed, and such.
This is my day off, and I've never felt so energized!

Re: Did You Call Your Representative Today?

I haven't seen a thread like this yet today so I thought I'd revive yesterday's.

    Sent email today. Check.

    Called today. Check.

Make other phone calls, internet posts, craigslist ads, etc. Check.

Only thing I'm not doing today is getting out in the streets in person because we are a one car family and my husband has the car today. So I'm doing what I can from home.

Re: Did You Call Your Representative Today?

Sent off 198 letters signed by 7 different people. I did all the work, and they just needed to sign their name 22 times on the preprinted letters. Then I and my bosslady's kids stuffed the envelopes and put return addresses on the envelopes... I made it DEAD EASY.
I didn't get to call. Booo me.
I did get to send the emails again though.
