    Helpppppppppp

Hello..I just got my first leo in December she is about 4 inches long now. Today I went and got a new leo its about 2 inches long. Right now I have them housed seperate. Is it ok to house them in the same 25 gallon tank or should i just keep them the way I have them...seperate. I was told that my older leo will eat the new one...Is that true?

I have never heard of that, I know that males cannot be housed together beacause they will fight.

    Re: Helpppppppppp

males cannot be house together, but by their lengths it sounds like they are too young to sex,

for time being, i would wait until the smaller gecko is bigger, because there is a good chance that he/she will not be able to compete for the food, and from my experience, when it comes to eating, the babies seem to be much more quick to bite a tail than adults

    or

you can try housing them together but make sure you have time to watch them in case anything happens. Keep the second tank up and ready in case things don't work out.

I would make sure to have at least 2 hides (1 on the hot side, one of the cool)

I introduced my baby/juvenile blind gecko to one of my more timid adults by putting them together, and making sure i was going to be around to watch them

    hope this helps

    Re: Helpppppppppp

I will try to house them together for a time tomorrow. I dont wanna stress out the baby. Thanks for the help. The people at the pet store told me the bigger one would eat the little one. Apparently they didnt know what they were talking about.

    Re: Helpppppppppp

generally the info given from most pet stores is not the best, or most accurate.

Pet stores like petsmart, petco etc. usually just look for the sale rather.

It is a different case with smaller, privately owned stores.

That isnt to say that the bigger one wont attack the smaller one, but I really don't think it would have eaten the smaller one

    good luck

    Re: Helpppppppppp

You really should quarantine the new Leo before any introductions are made, at least for 60 days, 90 would be better.
I tend to think that a larger Leo will indeed eat a smaller one, I've read stories of such things but don't know it first-hand. It makes sense though, they will try to eat anything moving that will fit in their mouths, especially in confined quarters...and some are very territorial so could kill a new arrival 'just because'.
I think you would be better off waiting until they can both be sexed, have been properly quarantined and are closer to the same size.
