Which should I get for him?

I have a pied male that is 66% for ghost. I want to get a visual hypo female to breed him with, but I am wondering should I get a co-dom hypo and raise her up and breed them, or find a large hypo female and just go with it for next year?

I really like honeybees but not sure of the availability or market price on them, and POG's are a cheaper alternative, but again, I am unsure of the price. What would you guys do? If I get the honeybee and he doesnt prove out, hey, I will get spiders that are DH for hypo and ghost anyway, so that would NOT be a bad thing at all right? Same with the POG, nice co-dom DH. Those could be powerful breeders later down the road. I didnt want to get a het or PH just to increase my odds on proving him out.

    Hmmm, no opinions?

Not sure how to edit a post yet, but I noticed I put DH for hypo and ghost, I meant hypo and pied obviously

    Hi,

Well it really does depend on how you feel about the possible outcomes.

The spied is an amazing looking animal to my eyes - but what would the ghost gene really bring to it?

Definately go for a Honeybee. You can't loose with that.

I like the spied alot more, not a more common one you see for sale.

I think I am going to go with a honeybee in the near future. I am buying a Killerbee right now and its got my extra $$ locked down. I think a ghost spied would be awesome looking. Since POG's are much cheaper, I may look into one later in the year as well. Anyone make a ghost bumblebee yet?

I am with Dr. Del on this one. The ghost spied is a five (2+2+1) gene animal...and I think of all the other five gene animals I could possibly make....the marginal gain of adding the ghost gene into the spied seems small compared to the amount of work it will take.

    Just my opinion.

Re: Which should I get for him?

Well, what would you guys go for then? First things first, I need to prove him out. I just figured a co-dom hypo would be the way to do it because worst case, I will have co-dom DH's. Now in a perfect world I would buy a ghost genetic stripe and shoot for a triple het, but money isnt that good right now!
