Sunkissed vs. Sunkist
Ok, so I think I have decided on a sunkist.
But, what is the genetic difference in them? I email Carol at Low Belly Reptiles and she said she might be producing some this season and I have a feeling they are the sunkissed. I like the sunkist because of it looking like a miami phase (correct? I haven't done any research on corn morphs besides looking at pics) with more orange.

Reason: hotlinking I'm afraid but a link to them is fine ;-)

Re: Sunkissed vs. Sunkist
Sunkissed is a recessive genetic mutation that causes a hypo effect. Some also view it as a pattern mutation as well, their heads have a distinct pattern to them, and their saddles tend to be somewhat more square; but the head pattern is the give away.
As far as I can tell, the Sunkist is not a sunkissed - I don't know the story behind them. But the one pictured doesn't look to be a sunkissed - just looks like a normal to me.

Sunkist (that I know of) are only made by BHB. It looks like a Miami Phase w/ orange on it's back.

Re: Sunkissed vs. Sunkist
That's my thinking. I LOVE the sunkist but not so much the sunkissed. I'm hoping carol means she is making a sunkist not a sunkissed...otherwise my cash is going to BHB.

Re: Sunkissed vs. Sunkist
I'm skeptical of the whole "sunkist" labeling. The first pic looks to be nothing more than a normal - the 2nd one looks like an OK miami, but even then nothing special. A miami with orange on its back is just a normal - nothing special. Have any pictures of an adult "sunkist"?

Re: Sunkissed vs. Sunkist
Those were taken straight from BHB's website. If you google image search "sunkissed corn snake" that first pic is about the same as the others. What is desireable when it comes to colors and markings that makes the BHB just an OK one? The last pic I posted was of their Miami to show the differences. How is a miami with little spots of orange on its back a normal?

Yeah, I'm familiar with the sunkissed snakes. The first one is a typical one. But to me the sunkist snakes look like nothing more than a normal corn. And if you did take a miami and put orange spots on it it would grow up to be normal looking. Most corns hatchout with very weak oranges anyways, but the develop as they get older. So if it looks like a miami as a hatchling, but has orange spots, it will definitely develop orange all over and won't grow up looking like a miami but will just be a normal.
I should point out that genetically, miamis are just line bred normals as well.
I was asking for adult pics of the "sunkist" because to me the hatchling doesn't look to be anything special. Adult pictures would be more telling if there's anything actually special happening.

Re: Sunkissed vs. Sunkist
I haven't seen any adult pics at this point, otherwise I would check them out. I will more than likely get the sunkist and I guess see what happens as it gets older.
