Is There Something Wrong With My BP?
Hey guys,
I have a Normal Ball Python that I bought around 8-10 months ago from a local pet store.
I've been feeding it regularly every sunday since the day I got him with a reasonable sized mouse. I usually feed him live, but just recently started feeding him F/T.
Anyway, this guy hasn't grown one bit in the 8 months that I've had him. He's roughly 17 inches, I'm not sure how much he ways though.
Am I not feeding him enough? Or is there some other problem?
Thanks,
Cole

Can be one or the other or even a combination.
What are you feeding (prey size and quantity)?
If you feed him appropriate size rodents weekly but your BP does not grow I would recommend you to take him to a vet and have a fecal done.

I feed him medium sized mice or baby rats. One every feeding.

He needs to eat adult mice or rat pup. BP are generally started on hoppers and quickly move to adult mice or rat pup, additionally start feeding every 5 days instead of every 7 days.
I would still recommend a vet visit and have a fecal done.

best scale to go by to start bulking up your BP is look at the girth of your BP at the thickest point, you want a rodent roughly 1.5 times the size of that, my BP didnt have much weight to him, so i started that regiment every 5 days and NOW, hes getting noticeably bigger quicker, just wondering are you giving your snake belly heat or overhead heat ?

Re: Is There Something Wrong With My BP?
Go buy a scale and start weighing your BP.
I feed 10-15% of the snakes body weight. I would also go to the vet and get a fecal done.

Re: Is There Something Wrong With My BP?
Your BP should be eating small rats by now, what is the weight? As Deb said feed every 5 days, your feeders should be 10-15% of the snakes weight.

I have belly heat and over head heat.
Thanks everyone for all the help. I'll be calling the vet soon, and will probably get a scale.
