    VPI Axanthic to TSK Axanthic...

Apparently, both strains of Axanthic aren't compatible with eachother, but here is another question..

If you bred a VPI Axanthic to a TSK Axanthic, would you produce double hets? Has anyone tried this out? Yes it may not make sense to do so, but it's somethng that I've just been thinking about. Is it possible something new could be produced from the double hets?

    I would not think so...

But it would be cool if it did do something like make a higher contrast...

I think Jolliff and VPI were proven non compatable by breeding together so pffspring from that would have been double hets. I do not know if TSK and VPI have been crossed but since the commonly held opinion is that they are also non compatable I would guess it too has been done, again resulting in double het progeny.

If you bred double hets togethere to get double homozygous you might get a more stable black/silver snake (i.e. less brown out) but I do not hink you can say with out actully doing it.

Re: VPI Axanthic to TSK Axanthic...

VPI x SK has been done but to my knowledge it was only het to het and 5 eggs were produced. No Axanthics.

With 1 in 4 odds I'd say it's not 100% certain they aren't compatible. Supposedly a couple breeders were doing VPI to SK this year to prove them compatible once and for all? If I had a VPI male I'd even give it a shot.....I think they might surprise us. After all how many different lines can there really be?
