What is this?
So, I'm having my weekly freakout over my snake's health. You know, the time after feeding when you can get them out and look them over. I noticed his belly is pinker than usual. I did a search on scale rot and this doesn't seem to be it. I found a thread on here about shedding and pink bellies. Here are some pics I took tonight. It's not bad, just a bit discolored. So at what point can I decide what this is going to turn out to be and whether it required a vet visit? What signs do I need to be looking for?
In reality, it is just about identical to the shedding thread. His eyes are nice and clear and he shed a month ago.

if your snakes young they can shed quite often. it looks like shed, the snake should get dull in the next few days.

Re: What is this?
If it's all up and down the belly I wouldn't worry about it, it's just the very beginning of the shedding process. It can be anywhere from light peach to pink and will darken for about a week, along with the skin subsequently getting darker and the eyes turning cloudy. If it's a youngster shedding regularly every month it means he's healthy and growing

Great. He's almost 8 months old. He's eating like a pig and getting big fast. And it's over his entire belly.

Also, I found that some substrates can actually discolor the snake's belly a little bit. Or at least, that's what I've concluded.
It looks like yours, just a little reddish. No soreness, infection, or anything.

If you are regulating your heat source, you should never have to worry about a burn.
As said, he is going in to shed. No worries!
